Flow Tech Let the Good Times Flow – 8th Annual Flowtoberfest Recap

Flow Tech invited our customers and industry friends to let the good times [and beer] flow at our 8th annual customer appreciation event. Flowtoberfest or ‘Flowtobs’ as our employee-owners refer to the event, is Flow Tech’s take on an Oktoberfest-style party.

Not Your Average Work Party

The event was held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Elicit Brewing Co. Guests enjoyed networking, beer, food (sponsored by ABB), good cheer and of course, lederhosen-clad Flow Techians!

Flow Tech President, Mike Davis (right) and Sales Engineer, Kevin Wixom (Left) aren’t afraid to show some leg! They’ve rocked Lederhosen since 2017.

Director of Marketing, Nichole Petersen loves to dress up and get into her German alter ego, Frau Petersen.

Do we have your attention yet? The fun didn’t stop there. Twenty-seven guests competed in the coveted stein-holding competition to win bragging rights and a $25 gift card to Elicit.

This year’s competition went the longest. Our guests must have been training in the off season.
Alex Sopelak of Eversource won the women’s division and Joe Conti of Harry Grodsky won for the men’s.

Speaking of prizes, our manufacturers and industry partners graciously donated prizes that we raffled off to our guests. Raffle prizes included:

Chuck Stuart of van Zelm Engineers was a good sport when posing for his picture.

New this Year

When you host an annual event things can get boring or “expected.” That’s why we add something different every year.

Live Photo Sharing Platform

Esstart is a new live photo sharing platform designed specifically to enhance your event. We gave it a try and enticed guests to participate and share their photos. Our manufacturer, M.K. Plastics donated a $100 Amazon gift card for us to provide the guest who posted our favorite picture. Pictures were shared in real time on a projector screen during the event.

Some of the photos uploaded to the Esstart platform. You can see the projector screen in the background of one.

Sustainability

Typically Flow Techians wear a branded Flowtoberfest T-Shirt to signify they work for Flow Tech. After much consideration we determined this isn’t the most sustainable or environmentally-friendly option, especially when most throw their T-shirt away after the event. This year we swapped the T-Shirt for a German Alpine-style hat that can be worn year after year.

Everyone wore them well!

Two Favor Options

What would an event be without a party favor (no, not that kind!). This year we paid tribute to our newly retired, former owner and president, Rich Harper by applying his German alter ego’s image, Herr Harper, on socks. We didn’t know if everyone could handle that much Rich (turns out the couldn’t get enough) so we also offered hand-dipped Chocolate covered pretzels from Delectable Delights by Hannah.

Who doesn’t want Herr Harper on their socks?
The pretzels were yummy!

Thank you, Flowtoberfest Vendors

DJ

Also new this year, we swapped the 2-person Bavarian band for DJ Scottie of Full Blast Entertainment. Guests partied to classic rock, traditional Bavarian music and even some modern German pop. Thanks for keeping the party going!

Photography

April Smith of April A. Photography has been Flow Tech’s Flowtoberfest photographer since the 2nd annual event in 2015. She has also taken our company photos in 2017 and 2022. Thank you for always capturing the fun of Flowtoberfest.

Reception

To get us mingling with guests and away from reception we first hired Ava Rodrigues of Party Your World last year to help check guests in and give out name badges and favors. Thanks Ava for keeping an accurate headcount and allowing us to have a great time.

Did DJ Scottie let Frau Petersen take control!?!

The event wouldn’t mean anything without the business and support from our customers and industry friends. We greatly appreciate everyone who attended this 8th annual event.
