#Flowtoberfest Deems Huge Success for Flow Tech!

Two weeks ago we hosted our first event, and it was a huge success! We named the event #Flowtoberfest which was our take on the traditional German Oktoberfest. #Flowtoberfest was meant to provide a carefree, social atmosphere where we could mingle with our customers and business contacts while drinking some tasty craft beer! Yes, that’s right- beer!  We thought it would be fun to provide our readers with a recap of the night’s events. Sit back, relax and maybe crack open a cold one…

We hosted #Flowtoberfest on Thursday, October 16th at Thomas Hooker Brewery, Co, located in Bloomfield, CT. The crew at Hooker was great! They were very easy to work with and offered suggestions on the floor plan and caterer, as well as, aided in set-up and break-down on the day of the event.

After contacting several restaurants that frequently work with Hooker we decided on the Republic Gastro Pub also in Bloomfield, CT. Jared and his team at the Republic were wonderful to work with too. Together we came up with a fabulous menu consisting of half traditional Oktoberfest selections and half American favorites. The menu featured an assortment of wursts and sausages with sauerkraut, red cabbage and mustard, large soft pretzels, German potato salad, spaetzel, buffalo wings, and margarita and Gorgonzola-pear flat breads. All the food was delicious!

Our guests were invited to join us between 4 PM and 8 PM. We’re happy to say we had 65 guests throughout the night- impressive for our first event! Although some people had to leave due to prior commitments, the majority stayed until the festivities ended.

Aside from socializing we had other activities to entertain the crowd. Guests were welcomed to our food buffet and had unlimited access to beer samples. We got to try all 10 beers they currently have on tap. From their new harvest selections like the full-bodied Octoberfest to last season’s refreshing Watermelon Ale- we tried them all again and again!

Hooker also provided us with several brewery tours throughout the night. Our guests were able to walk through the brewery while one of Hooker’s employees gave them a play by play of the brewing process. That was definitely another crowd pleaser!

Let’s not forget about our raffle prizes. Each guest was handed a raffle ticket upon entering. Those who RSVPed by 10/6/14 received two tickets. We had three raffle baskets to choose from. “Open Season” consisted of a 6-pack of Hooker’s Octoberfest, some beef jerky and a Cabela’s gift card. “Just Relax” had Bath and Body Works’ Beautiful Day body lotion, body wash and hand sanitizer, as well as a Spa Finder gift card and Autumn Leaves scented Yankee Candle. The last raffle basket, “Take a Chance” had candy, scratch tickets and a Mohegan Sun gift card. The three winners were very pleased with their winnings.

Those who didn’t win did not go home empty handed. We had commemorative pint glasses made with #Flowtoberfest’s logo engraved on them. Each guest got to take home their favor so the next time they drink a beer out of it they will remember the fun time they had with us.

We’re very grateful to all those who came out and celebrated the 1st #Flowtoberfest with us. We’re also thankful to Hooker Brewery and the Republic for their help and cooperation. We look forward to hosting future events, and maybe we can turn #Flowtoberfest into an annual one!
