From Golf Outings to Galas, Flow Tech Supports Connecticut’s A/E/C Industry Associations

Flow Tech is happy to sponsor employee and company memberships for Connecticut-based A/E/C industry associations. Aside from providing a great platform for our employees to receive education and training relevant to their job functions, becoming involved with industry organizations is a fantastic way to expand their personal network, thus expanding Flow Tech’s business network. Although we’re involved with a variety of associations throughout the year, May and June bring an end to most of these organizations’ 2018-2019 year. As a result the spring months are filled with these associations’ flagship events and programs.

Through participation, sponsorship and volunteerism, and from golf outings to galas, we are happy to support a variety of events and give back to the A/E/C industry.

Connecticut ASHRAE

The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) sets the industry standards for the HVAC&R world. Offering research, education and training for engineers and HVAC professionals, this industry association is most relevant to our Sales Engineers. Three of which are very active in the CT Chapter. Mike Davis is the incoming Chapter Treasurer, Kevin Wixom is a Board Member, Receptionist and Young Engineers of ASHRAE (YEA) co-Chair with Evan Benoit. They help drive the direction of the Connecticut Chapter and aid in the preparation of the 2nd Thursday of-the-month dinner meetings and the Annual Golf Outing.

Annual Golf Outing

CT ASRHAE’s Golf Outing is held the Friday before Memorial Day, providing the participants a jump start to get out of the office and start the long holiday weekend with some fun! This year’s event was held on Friday, May 24, 2019, at the Keney Park Golf Course. The day was beautiful and offered the perfect temperature for golfers to network and enjoy their time out on the course. Flow Tech’s Mike Davis played in the scramble-style tournament and led the charge to get sponsors for the outing and received more support from firms than in years past! Flow Tech was the official Drink Cart sponsor. Nichole Petersen and Kevin Wixom unofficially aided in hydrating golfers by driving around in their own cart and offered refreshments while taking pictures of the golfers. Aside from driving around the course with Nichole, Kevin was an integral part of the golfer registration process.

It was a fun day and the perfect way to end the 2018-2019 year for ASHRAE. The 2019-2020 year will start July 1, 2019.

Connecticut Building Congress (CBC)

Offering a forum for building professionals to connect, learn, and grow, the CBC has been Connecticut’s premier organization whose mission is to provide a collaborative environment that fosters relationships and contributes to the growth and success of the construction industry. Flow Tech holds a company membership and happily sponsors their Annual Golf Outing Fundraiser every fall. The organization holds meetings the second Tuesday of every month that center around Connecticut’s construction and building opportunities.

Professional Women in Construction Connecticut Chapter (PWC CT)

Supporting women in construction is an obvious goal of the PWC, however their mission goes beyond that. Professional Women in Construction’s mission is to support, advance, and connect women and promote diversity within the architecture, engineering, construction (A/E/C) and related industries. Flow Tech is a proud Annual Sponsor of the Connecticut Chapter and Nichole Petersen serves on the Board and Chairs the Communications Committee. She also helps out at the registration table for their first Tuesday of the month client panel dinner programs.

Issues and Impacts – Healthcare Facilities & Operations

Healthcare facilities require expert management under intense and demanding conditions. Attendees of the May 7, 2019, healthcare program had the opportunity to meet and learn from the “Physicians of the Built Environment” who effectively and efficiently direct facilities, planning and construction of some of the top-ranked hospital and health care facilities in Southern New England. The program was held at the Hartford Sheraton and Nichole helped out at the registration table for this program and posted to social media too. The PWC CT Healthcare program is always their best attended program.

It was a packed house for the 2019 PWC CT Healthcare program!

Society for Marketing Professional Services Connecticut Chapter (SMPS CT)

Many think that the Society for Marketing Professional Services is only for marketing and business development professionals. Although the SMPS is the premier resource for professionals in marketing and BD roles the mission of SMPS is to advocate for, educate and connect leaders in the building industry. They believe in Business Transformed Through Marketing Leadership. We’re proud be be an Annual Silver Sponsor, as well as, support our Marketing Director, Nichole Petersen’s membership of this terrific organization. Nichole has been a SMPS member since her start in the industry in 2013. She has served the organization as Sponsorship Committee Chair since 2014 and at the board level as Secretary and now President-Elect. Aside from serving on the board and Sponsorship Committee, Nichole also serves on the Chapter’s Programs Committee. The Programs Committee is responsible for planning all the events and programs throughout the year.

2019 Marketing Communications Awards (MCAs) Golden Gala

The MCAs is a competition the recognizes excellence in marketing communications within the A/E/C industry. This competition is held annually on the SMPS society level but only comes around every other year for Connecticut. Marketing communications projects in the categories of brochure, corporate identity, internal communications, promotional campaign, special event, video and website, completed between January 2017-January 2019 were eligible for submission. Flow Tech submitted “My Lederhosen Are in the Wash -4th Annual Flowtoberfest” as our special event entry. Although we did not win first place for that category we were still eligible to win the People’s Choice award that was announced live that night.

Attendees posed with the Cocktail Hour Entertainment

Nichole championed planning this event along with Jessica Brown from edm. It was like planning a wedding with a lot of moving parts and we applaud her and Jessica for pulling off a fun event. Flow Tech was the official Cocktail Hour sponsor. Tom Proietti showed his support for marketing excellence by attending the event in a tux no less.

Nichole is also charged with planning the SMPS CT’s final program of the 2018-2019 year. The program will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at the Glastonbury Hills Country Club from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Not only will it feature client panelists from various Connecticut and Massachusetts agencies but it will serve as the Chapter’s Annual meeting. The annual meeting portion allows members to be informed about the successes and highlights of the past year, as well as vote in the 2019-2020 board. Nichole will be officially voted in as the SMPS CT President! We wish her the best of luck and plan to support her by having some of our Sales Engineers, Tom Proietti and Evan Benoit, and our summer inter, Ryan Glenney attend.

If your firm is considering becoming a member of one of these A/E/C industry associations or one of the many others we highly recommend it. Its a great way to expand your brand exposure, meet new people and enhance your employees’ skills. We’d like to thank ABC CT, CT ASHRAE, CBC, Construction Institute, PWC CT and SMPS CT for a terrific 2018-2019 year! Keep up the good work and we’ll keep up our involvement and membership!
