Hopped Up for the 9th Annual Flowtoberfest – Event Recap

Flowtoberfest is an annual event created 9 years ago to provide the opportunity for us to give thanks to our customers and industry friends who continually support us! What began as our ‘take’ on a traditional Oktoberfest event has now turned into CT’s AEC networking event of the season! Get hopped up for the recap of the 9th Annual Flowtoberfest!

Only smiles allowed at Flowtoberfest!

Event Details

We were happily surprised when guests began to arrive before the start time of the event and continued to pour in a steady stream for the next hour. It was the fastest our space ever filled up and we hosted a record breaking high of 183 people (we typically average between 140-160 guests) throughout the night!

We love catching up with our customers outside of our normal encounters.

The event was held on Thursday, October 19th at Elicit Brewing Co. in Manchester, CT. Being it’s third consecutive year at this venue made prep and set-up a breeze and allowed us more quality time with our guests. We are switching up the venue next year but only to offer something new and different for our guests. We strongly encourage anyone interested in hosting their own event to explore Elicit. Their event coordinator, Emily Sands, is amazing to work with, their food is great, their bartenders are friendly, and they are very flexible based on your needs.

Flowtoberfest brings together Architects, Engineers, Contractors, Building End-users, Marketers, Business Developers and more!

Fun Details

Guests enjoyed a night of networking, craft beer, delicious food, raffles and of course the famous stein-holding competition.

From bratwursts and sauerkraut, pretzels and other traditional German-style options to a pizza bar, wings and fried Oreos the food scene did not disappoint. A huge thank you to ABB for continually being our official Flowtoberfest food sponsor!

Guests helped themselves to unlimited flight pours of craft beer, cider and wine, and non-alcoholic options.

We even allow competitors, but only if you’re as cool and kind as Bill Dunn!

We are fortunate to have a strong support of 20+ manufacturers who have generously donated raffle prizes over the years for this event. This year not only did several of our manufacturers contribute but we had four customers/industry friends contribute as well, making this a record breaking raffle prize year too!

All the raffles couldn’t fit on the table!

Thank you to the following companies for your raffle participation!

Congratulations to all the winners of these wonderful gifts and thank you again to our manufacturers for donating!

Stein-holding Competition

We started the stein-holding competition during the 3rd Annual Flowtoberfest and it has been going strong for the last 6 years. Men and women hold a full beer stein out at a 90 degree angle (without spilling) for as long as possible. The last man and the last women still holding their steins win!

Frau Petersen meticulously monitors contestants’ form and eliminates when necessary!

This year we had 21 competitors (13 men and 8 women). Congratulations to our winners, Lauren Marotta of Environmental Systems Corp. with time of 4 min. 8 sec., and to Gary Ayotte of Pratt & Whitney with a time of 5 min. 48 sec. Thanks to all for your good humor and participation!
